Hypersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator

Matt Moholt is a structures Engineer, at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center who develops and tests advanced structures such as the Hypersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (HIAD). This technology will allow larger spacecraft to enter the Martian atmosphere and more importantly, provide a deployable method to increase drag and slow down to safe landing speeds. HI
